Letter box
Listen to the sound coming from the box. Look at the letters on Dog and Cat’s boards. Select the grapheme that makes that sound. Touch the box to hear the sound again.
Use 'Letters and their sounds settings' to choose the content bank. Progress through as your phonics programme dictates. The default is Letters and Sounds but Jolly Phonics is also available under 'Setup's phonics settings'. However, as long as 'Prioritise latest GPC' is off it doesn't matter what programme you are using.
You can change the letter style and forms using 'Setup's phonics settings'.
Teaching tips:
Develop listening skills through this activity, ready to move onto reading and spelling words. This activity works well when using ‘Sound snacks’ or ‘Magic sounds’.
For an advanced version, using alternative graphemes, try ‘Advanced letter box’.
