Teaching tips:
A common error when counting faces on images of 3-D shapes is that children miscount or only count the visible faces. Therefore, it would be beneficial to allow children time to handle and explore 3-D shapes. They could use small sticky notes to help number and count each face. Ask them what they notice about the faces of the shapes, can they describe them to a partner? See if they can notice what 2-D shapes make up the faces of the shapes.
