Teaching tips:
This activity deals with terms that are widely used for many different animals. For more specific terms, see 'Animal groups - advanced'. There is some variance in what words are used for these animals, for example many may refer to a group of sheep as a 'flock', but others use the word 'herd'. Some of these animals do have more specific terms which you may encounter, e.g. a 'parade' of elephants.
This activity can also be used to introduce collective nouns.
