Create a book jacket for 'Toys in Space'
Choose a template for creating a book cover. You can produce the artwork and blurb, or write a blurb only.
Discussion points
- If you are creating artwork for the book jacket, what picture could you put on the front to show what's inside?
- How can you simply describe the contents of the book in a way that would encourage someone to read it?
- Could you add your own quote of praise for the book?
Teaching tips:
It would be useful to show the children some example blurbs prior to completing the jacket template. Emphasise that a blurb is a much shorter version of the story that doesn't give too much away. Model writing a blurb for a well-known story.
