Paint like Paul Cézanne
Use the tools and colours to create a Post-Impressionist painting in the style of Paul Cézanne. This project has five types of painting activity:
Copy a Cézanne painting – Study an original painting and try to recreate it.
Copy and review a Cézanne painting – Study an original painting and try to recreate it, then write an evaluation of your work.
Paint a scene like Cézanne – Reproduce the photograph as if you were Cézanne painting the view.

Discussion points
- Paul Cézanne (pronounced “Say-zan”) was perhaps the most famous Post-Impressionist painter and one of the lead artists of the Post-Impressionism movement.
- He was French and lived between 1839 and 1906.
- The Post-Impressionists took the techniques of Impressionism and took it further. They kept the visible brush marks but wanted to break free from the realistic use of colours and capturing of light effects.
