Dog's spelling splash
This version of this game focuses on words that contain new graphemes.
Listen to the word from the speaker then spell it using the puddles. Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to toggle the puddle 'keyboard' between QWERTY and ABCDE.
Where two words sound the same but are spelt differently (homophones) an easel appears with a picture to show which one it is.
Use the 'Alternative grapheme settings' button to choose which vowel and consonant GPCs to focus on.
Teaching tips:
Children might like to practise writing the word on whiteboards first and comparing with a partner before setting Dog off.
Use alongside ‘Fridge feast’ for further practice using alternative graphemes when spelling words.
